December 8, 2009 — Community Memorial Announces Winter Classes and Services

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — Community Memorial Hospital offers the following classes in winter. Unless otherwise noted, all classes will be held at Community Memorial Hospital, W180 N8085 Town Hall Road, Menomonee Falls. Registration is required for all classes; call Careconnection at (262) 251-1001 or (800) 246-8332.

Babysitting Class: Comprehensive babysitting skills for youth 11 years old and up. Learn how to play safely with children of all ages, prevent and treat minor injuries, and the responsibilities of a babysitter. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Fee: $45, includes lunch.

Driver Safety Program: This AARP Driver Safety Program is a four-hour class designed for people of all ages. It includes refining driving skills, updating knowledge on the rules of the road and reinforcing defensive driving techniques. Thursday, Feb. 25. Fee: $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. (AARP members must bring their membership card to class to receive the discount.) Pay at the door. Registration is required.

Maintaining Heart Health: Join Cherri Schleicher, RN, APNP, to learn about ways to use complementary and alternative methods to maintain heart health in addition to exercise and diet. Monday, Feb. 8, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Free.

Yoga: A six-week exercise program for people of any age or physical condition. This class is for people who have never taken a yoga class or who are beginners. This interactive class uses basic yoga techniques, explores balance, strength, flexibility and relaxation. Tuesdays, Jan. 26-March 2, 6:30-7:45 p.m. Fee: $50.

Female Urinary Incontinence – How To Fix a Leaky Bladder: Join obstetrician/gynecologist Henry Kaminski, MD, in a discussion on urinary incontinence in women — the types of incontinence, symptoms and treatment options, including non-medical treatment, medication and surgery. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Free.

Look Good, Feel Better: This program, offered in partnership with the American Cancer Society, is for female cancer patients currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatments. Licensed beauty professionals will cover skin and nail care, makeup and hair loss options to help women deal with appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. Monday, Feb. 15, 12:30-2:30 p.m. Free. Registration is required.

CPR Recognition for Healthcare Providers: Using American Heart Association guidelines, this two-day, six-hour course is for healthcare providers who have never taken a CPR course or do not carry a current CPR card. This course teaches the skills of CPR for adults, children and infants, use of barrier devices and an automatic external defibrillator (AED), and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 5-6, 6-9 p.m. Fee: $67.

Heartsaver CPR and AED for All Ages: This American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR and AED course is intended for the lay rescuer who wants to learn the skills of CPR for adult, child and infant. This may include first responders, security guards, massage therapists, athletic trainers, daycare workers, grandparents or anyone requiring documented completion of a CPR course. Skills taught in addition to CPR include use of a barrier device (mask), how to help a choking victim and how to use an automatic external defibrillator (AED) on a child/adult. Saturday, Feb.13, 8 a.m.-noon. Fee: $45.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: Join Beth LaLande, MD, Medical College of Wisconsin endocrinologist, in a discussion about polycystic ovary syndrome. She will discuss symptoms, diagnostic criteria, and treatment. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 6-7 p.m. Free.
