Sjogrens Syndrome Support Group
This support group is open to those with Sjogren's to discuss resources and recent advances.

Sjogren's syndrome is a chronic autoimmune disorder in which white blood cells attack the moisture-producing glands. Hallmark symptoms are dry eyes and mouth, but it is a systemic disease, affecting many organs. Often causes fatigue.
Meets the first Wednesday of every odd-numbered month at the Community Conference Center, 8700 Watertown Plank Rd.

Childbirth & Newborn Care Series (Tues - Thurs)
This four-night class is designed to provide information needed for labor, delivery, care of yourself after delivery and immediate care of the newborn.

This class is designed to provide information needed for labor, delivery, care of yourself after delivery and immediate care of the newborn. A coach/support person should attend all classes with you. Plan to finish the series four weeks before your due date. A tour of the Birthing Center is included. After attending this series, participants will be able to: - Identify warning signs in the third trimester of pregnancy
- Indentify signs and symptoms of true vs. false labor and be able to time contractions
- Identify when to contact their physician and come to the hospital
- Describe the stages and phases of labor
- Demonstrate comfort measures that may be used while in labor
- State routine labor care and methods of pain relief available at CMH
- Describe medical interventions that may be utilized during labor and delivery
- List reasons a cesarean section may be necessary
- Describe routine hospital care and recovery process of mom during her hospital stay and once home
- Describe routine hospital care and recognize physical and behavioral characteristics of the newborn at birth
- Verbalize normal feeding and sleeping patterns, waking and calming techniques for baby
- Demonstrate how to hold, swaddle, burp, and diaper baby; take an auxillary temperature
- Describe the transition to parenthood period and how to promote fathering
Please bring two pillows and a blanket to each class. Cost is $60 per couple if delivering at CMH and $120 per couple if not delivering at CMH. This class is a four-night series - twice a week for two consecutive weeks. To register, contact Careconnection at 262-251-1001.

Polycystic Kidney Support Group
This support group provides a forum for patients, family and friends to come together to learn more about polycystic kidney disease and share personal stories and discuss transplant process and current drugs and research for a cure.

Polycystic kidney disease (PKD), the most common inherited life-threatening disease, affects more than 600,000 Americans and an estimated 12.5 million people worldwide — regardless of gender, age, race or ethnic origin. PKD appears in two forms — autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), which is the most common and affects one in 400 to 500 adults, and autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD), which is more rare and affects one in 10,000 people at a younger age, including infants and children.
Meets the first Tuesday of the month.

Free blood pressure screening.

The Free Blood Pressure Screenings provided by the volunteers will be conducted in the Outpatient Care Center. Directions to the Outpatient Care CenterEnter Driveway B and follow the signage to the entrance that says Women's Center/Outpatient Center/Conference Center. Park your vehicle in the parking lot labeled C-1 adjacent to the canopied entrance. Enter through the revolving doors under the Women's Center sign and walk left down the hallway until you get to the elevators. Take the elevator up to the first floor.

DBS Support Group
This support group is for people who have had deep brain stimulation surgery and their families and/or caregivers.

DBS is a surgery for patients with a movement disorder that is not responding adequately to medication. These disorders include individuals experiencing symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, dystonia and more. Meets the second Saturday of the month at Small Stones in Brookfield. There is no meeting in July or August. No registration required.

ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) Support Group
This support group is for people with Lou Gehrig's Disease and their families.

ALS, also called Lou Gehrig's Disease, or Motor Neuron Disease, is a chronic, progressive disease marked by gradual degeneration of the nerve cells in the central nervous system that control voluntary muscle movement. The disorder causes muscle weakness and atrophy; symptoms commonly appear in middle to late adulthood, with death in two to five years. The cause is unknown, and there is no known cure.
Meets the second Saturday of each month at Froedtert Hospital, Conference Room A/B. There is no meeting in May, August, or December.
No registration required.

Parkinson's Disease Caregiver Support Group
This support group is solely for spouses of people with Parkinson’s disease and/or caregiving children, friends and others.

Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects the brain. The disease is characterized by a shortage of the brain chemical dopamine, which controls people's movement. The four primary symptoms of Parkinson's are tremor; rigidity or stiffness of the muscles; slowness of movement (bradykinesia); and impaired balance. These symptoms can range from very mild to severe, and can cause difficulty in walking, talking or performing everyday tasks. Meets the second Saturday of every month at Small Stones in Brookfield. No registration required.

Living Well Series
Are you an adult with an ongoing health condition? Take charge of your life with The Living Well with Chronic Conditions workshops.

The workshops will provide information about: - Techniques to deal with frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation.
- Appropriate exercises to maintain and improve strength, flexibility and endurance.
- Appropriate use of medications.
- Ways to communicate effectively with family, friends, and health professionals.
- Better nutrition tips.
- How to evaulate new treatments.
The Living Well with Chronic Conditions workshops meet for two-and-one-half hours once per week for six weeks. Classes are very interactive and mutual support and successes build your confidence in the ability to manage your health and maintain active and fulfilling lives. There is no fee for the workshop, but registration is required. Each participant receives a textbook to use through class. This support group is for families, spouses, relatives and friends of people who have mental illness/depression, bi-polar disorder, anxiety, schizophrenia and other mental disorders.

A psychiatric or psychological condition regardless of cause such as schizophrenia, depression, manic depressive or bipolar illness, anxiety, personality disorders and/or adjustment disorders or other conditions. These conditions are usually treated by a mental health provider or other qualified provider using psychotherapy, psychotropic drugs, or other similar methods of treatment.
Meets the second and fourth Monday of the month at Froedtert Hospital Finance Conference Room.

Big Brother / Big Sister (Ages 2-7)
This class prepares children ages 2-7 for the arrival of a new brother or sister.

Children need to prepare for the birth of a new brother or sister. They may wonder where he/she fits in when the new baby comes. During this class, your child(ren) will have the opportunity to: - Share what they have done to prepare for the new baby
- Explain what a new baby looks like
- Verbalize three things new babies can and cannot do
- Safely touch, hold, and play with a new baby
- Verbalize three ways they can help care for the new baby
- Join in activities that will help celebrate being a big brother or big sister
- Tour the Birthing Center to see where mom is going to stay when she has the new baby

Peripheral Neuropathy Support Group
This is a support group for persons with peripheral neuropathy. All are welcome. The group offers speakers and information about different ways to live with the limitations that this disorder causes them.

A disorder of the peripheral nerves, usually involving the feet, hands and sometimes the legs, arms and face. Symptoms may include numbness, tingling or burning sensations, pain, abnormal reflexes, weakness and partial paralysis.
Meets the fourth Monday of every month. Does not meet in June, July, August, or December.
