Community Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Care Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and the American College of Radiology.
One of the most notable accomplishments of the year was receiving the Outstanding Achievement Award from our accrediting body, the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Our program is surveyed every three years and we received the award following a survey conducted in May. A facility receives the Outstanding Achievement Award following an on-site evaluation by a physician surveyor during which the facility demonstrates a "commendation" level of compliance with standards that represent the full scope of a cancer program (cancer committee leadership, cancer datamanagement, clinical services, research, community outreach, and quality improvement). In addition, a facility receives a compliance rating for the remaining 29 standards. Sixty-six programs received this award as a result of surveys performed in 2007. This number represents approximately 15 percent of the programs surveyed during this period.
