After a thorough physical examination and review of your hospital records, tests, X-rays and biopsy findings, your physicians will discuss their recommendations with you. They will also consult with your primary care doctor. We want you to be an active participant in planning your health care. We also encourage family members to join you throughout the process to discuss your progress and offer support.
Your oncologists will coordinate your care with oncology nurses and other cancer specialty staff. Your cancer team will also help you manage side effects and note any physical changes, and, if necessary, will recommend other forms of treatment to achieve the best results. When your treatment is completed, you will be examined periodically to monitor your progress. After completing treatment, a full report is sent to your primary care doctor and we will schedule your follow-up visits at the Cancer Care Center.
Please bring your insurance card to your initial visit. If you are a member of a health maintenance organization (HMO), be sure to have your service authorization approved before your first visit. A copy of your monthly statement is automatically sent to you or your insurance company. Please let us know of any changes in your insurance coverage or financial status. Oncology physician fees are billed separately. Community Memorial sends a second bill for hospital charges.
If you have any questions about insurance or billing, or need any other type of assistance, the Cancer Care Center staff is available to help you.
