Lifeline

Lifeline is a communication system that allows subscribers to live independently in their homes while still remaining in touch with emergency help. The system allows an added sense of "security" for users and reassurance for their family and friends.

How it works

Each subscriber has a communicator unit attached to their telephone and a help button that is worn on a necklace or bracelet. At the first sign of trouble, the subscriber pushes the help button which sends an electronic message (via telephone) to the Emergency Response Center at Lifeline's headquarters where trained personnel immediately call back through the communicator unit to find out the problem. If the subscriber does not answer when called, the Emergency Response Center contacts the responders provided by the subscriber (relatives, friends, neighbors, local police and rescue) whose names have been supplied by the subscriber. The system does not provide emergency medical care or medical advice. The primary function is to provide responders to the home when the subscriber activates the system. Community Memorial Hospital provides information and the installation of Lifeline units for the surrounding area.
