Your Breast Care Center experience starts with a mammography technologist, who will perform your screening or diagnostic mammogram. Radiologists read the mammograms, and if you need a biopsy, a general surgeon or radiologist will perform the procedure. Patients who are diagnosed with cancer meet with cancer specialists who will determine a course of treatment. Community Memorial Hospital is member of the Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Network A, offering comprehensive expertise and care coordination right here at our hospital.
Community Memorial Hospital holds a twice-monthly, multidisciplinary breast cancer conference. During these conferences, surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, a genetic counselor, dietitians, pathologists, radiologists and nurses meet to discuss most breast cancer cases to determine the best course of treatment for patients.

Throughout the diagnosis and treatment process, our breast care coordinator, Julie Hembel, BSN, RN, OCN, CBCN, ensures there is a seamless transition between staff and physicians., Julie is certified in breast care and oncology.
Julie connects patients with a surgeon or radiologist, stays with them during their breast biopsy, follows up after they receive results, helps them connect with an oncologist and provides them with educational information about breast cancer. She also makes sure they know about the special services we offer patients, including the Breast Cancer Support Group, the Confident Woman Boutique and Look Good, Feel Better.
