
The Heart and Vascular Center works closely with the Women’s Health Center to identify patients at high risk for heart disease and help them lower their risk. For those who do need treatment, we have state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and expert physicians who work as a team to offer the most advanced treatments available.
Heart disease isn’t just a man’s disease. Coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death for women—ahead of all forms of cancer, including breast cancer. A woman’s risk of heart disease increases if she has metabolic syndrome, a cluster of abnormalities in her metabolism. Women with metabolic syndrome have three or more of the following factors:
Our nurse practitioner will help you identify your risk factors in a personalized consultation. You will then work together to develop personalized holistic strategies to optimize your health. Women who have metabolic syndrome are connected with our Heart and Vascular Center’s Risk Reduction Program, which helps women with goal setting, nutritional counseling and physical exercise.
