Relaxation Massage: Traditional massage therapy is the systematic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body. Using oils or lotion, the therapist combines the following techniques: gliding, kneading, compression, stretching, and rocking, to design an individualized massage. This relaxation treatment creates a state of general well-being and physical ease.
Pain Relief Massage: Muscles that are chronically contracted create areas of tenderness that are sometimes called “trigger points.” The contracted muscle is shut down — fresh blood can’t get in and the waste can’t get out. This irritates the surrounding nerves and causes pain and tenderness. Pain relief therapy focuses on these tender areas to soften the muscle, restore normal circulation and flush the waste out.
Prenatal Massage: This type of massage relieves back pain during pregnancy and promotes a sense of well-being. A specially designed table allows pregnant women to be positioned comfortably on their abdomen or side during massage.
Postpartum Massage: We offer this soothing massage while the new mother is still in the hospital. Patients can choose to have the massage therapist come to their room, or they can go to the massage therapy room. While the mother relaxes, our Birthing Center staff will take excellent care of the baby in the nursery.
Senior and Geriatric Massage: This massage is designed for individual physical conditions of older adults by specially trained massage therapists.
