Treating perimenopause and menopause

Perimenopause

Most women begin perimenopause—the physiological stage women go through when approaching menopause—between ages 45 and 55. Usually, a 60-day span of time with no period is a good indicator that you have begun this stage. In addition to irregular periods, symptoms of perimenopause include:

Menopause

During menopause, women may experience many of the same symptoms as perimenopause. Other common symptoms of menopause include a racing or pounding heart, night sweats, flushed skin and headaches.

Treatment of perimenopause and menopause

At the Women’s Health Center, we know how bothersome these symptoms can be. You don’t have to suffer—we can help you find relief. We offer bioidentical hormone therapy, which is therapy tailored to the individual person. Our nurse practitioner tests samples of your saliva to create hormone supplements especially for you. Because the hormone therapy is individualized, there is a much lower risk of cardiac problems than with traditional hormone therapy.

If you think you may be experiencing symptoms of perimenopause or menopause, call the nurse practitioner clinic right away. The sooner you seek treatment, the better your chances of finding relief from your symptoms.
